Project Narrative:

Guildhall Road is the predominant road within Northampton Cultural Quarter. The road boasts the museum, art gallery and theatre as its principle residents. The street also benefits from a number of individual clothing outlets.

The improvement works to Guildhall Road were planned as part of the works to promote the Cultural Quarter. The road is a single way double carriage width with minimal footpath space.

Kinver Business Solutions Ltd were appointed by Northampton Borough Council to act as Client Project Manager and oversee the concept design work and contract negotiation with the Highways Authority as potential constructor.

We ensured that the concept design was developed alongside the key businesses and several outputs originated from discussions with the adjacent businesses.

Concept design was signed off and feasibility works commenced on a revised design with at level footpaths.

Widened footpaths, specifically marked out parking areas and bespoke loading bays were installed and completed.

Works were due to originally be complete in December 2014, however an efficient working relationship with the contractor was forged and the works were completed ahead of schedule and in time for the Christmas trading period.

Project risks were managed effectively and the project was delivered within financial parameters with an approximate 21% saving against the project budget.
