Project Narrative:

The recently acquired office building on High Pavement in Sutton in Ashfield will see the conversion, refurbishment and fit out of a brand-new Makerspace facility. This scheme will see the conversion of the ground floor to Maker space and will include provision for light industrial commercial use whilst the upper floor is converted into a business hub housing small lettable units with business hub facilities including communal breakout areas, kitchens and meeting/conference rooms.

The ground floor Maker space will become a community workshop facility with equipment for members to use, learn new skills, invent, and build. Industries being explored are woodwork, metal work, textiles and digital.

The project will require internal layout alterations and the inclusion of a new lift (either internally or within a small extension). This project also seeks to meet the sustainability and low to zero carbon use as set out within the Ashfield District Council Carbon Management Programme/Plan 2021. Photovoltaics will be included in the scheme to reduce carbon emissions and aid reducing running costs.
