Project Narrative:

Northampton Borough Council committed as part of its submission to the ‘High Street of the Year’ 2015 competition.

St Giles Street was successful in being awarded the accolade of being ‘High Street of the Year’ within the national awards and as such the Council committed to improving the public realm to further enhance the customer experience.

Kinver Business Solutions Ltd was appointed by the Council to bring forwards initial concept designs with the Highways Authority, review and agree a preferred design. The appointment further included the role of Client Project Manager during the delivery stage of the project.

Throughout the project from concept design to construction the team at Kinver Business Solutions Ltd liaised with the Council, businesses and residents of St Giles Street. We were involved and reported through to the internal Council governance structures and additionally reported through to a Business Liaison group which was free for businesses to attend and directly input into the project.

The overall scheme was split into separate phases to ensure minimum disruption to businesses and give the construction team key milestone objectives.

Phase 1 works were on St Giles Street between Hazelwood Road & Castilian Street. This section of works were due to be complete in 11 weeks. The overall scheme was completed within 6 weeks resulting in a nearly 50% improvement upon the target completion date.

Phase 2 works included the section between Castilian Street and St Giles Square. Works commenced in July 2016 and were programmed to be completed in the first week of December 2016. Works were completed on the 21st October 2016 substantially ahead of programme.
