Project Narrative:

The Vulcan Iron Works is a disused Victorian factory complex within the heart of Northampton Town Centre. Kinver Business Solutions Ltd were appointed by Northampton Borough Council to act as client project manager.

A previous scheme had stalled due to a number of external factors and there was an immediate need to generate momentum in driving the project forwards.

We quickly clarified with the client the necessary brief for the scheme, developed this through into instructions to the wider design team and developed a deliverable project timeline.

RIBA Stage 3 was delivered and the Project Board signed off on approval to move forwards to RIBA 4.

The identified budget of £12.445m project will see the Victorian factory restored and utilised by the University of Northampton as well as the construction of new office accommodation and the restoration of further north light factory units.

The project is let via the SCAPE Framework and Wates Ltd are the chosen contractor via a Design & Build process.
